Being a PTA Member doesn't mean you have to come to all the meetings, or events or even volunteer (although we love it when you do!)
Membership simply says...I CARE & I SUPPORT parents and teachers working together to build a vibrant, engaged school community where our children thrive.
Membership Drive Ideas
Make sure your Membership Flyers and Communications are letting potential members know what being a PTA Member means and the ways that PTAs benefit schools & families.
There is no right or wrong way to hold a membership drive! Do what works best for your school, but remember, creating a friendly, open environment at events, meetings and through your communications will help your families feel like they "belong" and create a membership drive that can last all year long!
Picture who, when and how you will connect with members
Listen to what matters most to your members
Ask your members to join PTA by aligning your efforts to what matters most to them
Nurture relationships with members year-round
Benefits for your Families
Consider having your PTA offer a special discount to your members! e.g. free entrance to an event, a discount on spirit wear, a discount on after school classes, a discount to a local favorite restaurant. Advertise the special membership discounts that Virginia PTA and National PTA have arranged for your families!
PTAs create an engaged parent community that has positive impacts on academics and the school environment
What your PTA pays for! Even if it's just things your families take for granted (assemblies, field trips, communication folders, DARE shirts, etc), let your families know what those things are. If new expenses come up in the middle of the year, let them know what they are helping you provide for their students.
